Simone's love for music blossomed at the young age of 16, launching her on a dynamic musical journey. She honed her craft as a lead vocalist in various cover bands, captivating audiences at renowned venues like the Pumphouse and Manly Pacific. Her talent and versatility extended beyond stage lights, shining brightly in collaborations with legendary artists like John Stevens and Phil Emmanuel where she explored the depths of Soul, Blues, Rock, and Funk. Simone was also involved in recording sessions and performances at the Tamworth country music festival with the McCormack Brothers Band during this time.
But Simone's musical spirit yearned for more. She formed her own band, "Crimson Charm," a platform for her original compositions, allowing her to share her unique voice and artistry with the world. Simone brings her extensive experience and undeniable passion to The Tone Cutters, ready to ignite the stage with her powerful vocals and infectious energy.
DAVE CLEWS
Bass
Dave began playing bass after hearing 'The Crunge' by Led Zeppelin and never looked back. He played in local cover bands in the NSW country town of Batlow before a stint in Sydney saw him hook up with the hard-working BLACK LABEL band in 1992. After a few years he relocated to the Central Coast where he played in a number of working bands, including ROUGH DIAMOND, PEPPERBOX BLUE and ROCK REDEMPTION.
In 2011 he joined the DAI PRITCHARD BAND and gigged with them for the next six years. During that time, he shared the stage with Rock Royalty such as ANGRY ANDERSON (ROSE TATTOO) and GRANT WALMSLEY (SCREAMING JETS).
Dave and Rob met in 2020 and together along with singer Phil formed Salticidae where they collaborated and developed original material. Now with The Tone Cutters Dave, Rob, Simone and Nathan are forging ahead with a new and exciting direction.
ROB MCKAY
Drums Vocals
Rob's early drum lessons at the Yamaha School of Music led to his involvement with a succession of school bands before replacing his former drum teacher in RAMPAGE, a Sydney based band playing original compositions. He eventually moved on to another working band, NO COMMENT, playing a mix of original rock music and popular covers. Apart from many stand-alone gigs, NO COMMENT supported the likes of SPY VS SPY; JAMES REYNE; THE DIVINYLS; MARK WILLIAMS; CELIBATE RIFLES and KEITH URBAN.
Rob also worked as a session muso for numerous outfits including Tone Orange a Newcastle based band until he began THE SQUEALING PYGMIES with MICK HART. This band played at and recorded five tracks, live at the wireless for JJJ Radio in Sydney. The track, 'I Need a Drink' was selected for regular rotation on the J's.
Stints with bands JEZEBEL and RHODES were followed by regular work with the high-profile Central Coast cover band, THE COVER UP. Dave and Rob met in 2020 and together along with singer Phil formed Salticidae where they collaborated and developed original material. Now with The Tone Cutters Dave, Rob, Simone and Nathan are forging ahead with a new and exciting direction
NATHAN BULLOCK
Guitars, Vocals
Nathan, the driving force behind The Tone Cutters' electrifying guitar riffs, boasts a 22-year career that's seen him traverse diverse musical landscapes, shaping his sound into a potent blend of experience and passion. He cut his teeth channelling the raw energy of grunge as lead guitarist for Sydney's top Grunge cover band, "Seattle Sound." His talent further ignited when he embodied the iconic Slash in the Australian Guns n Roses Show. But his versatility didn't stop there. Nathan rocked stages across the Central Coast with "The Cover Up," a band tackling a wide range of genres, from pubs and clubs to weddings and corporate events.
Now, with The Tone Cutters, Nathan embarks on a fresh chapter. Drawing inspiration from the timeless grooves of the 70s and 80s, he infuses the band's sound with influences of blues rock, funk, and soul, all brought to life by the captivating vocals of their lead singer. Armed with his trusty Gibson Les Paul, Nathan's riffs create a dynamic soundscape that resonates with his journey and ignites the soul.
